For National Sex Education Month this June, Adam & Eve asked 2,000 American adults to rate their sexual skills from very confident to very insecure. This web-based survey was part of a larger overall study conducted by an independent third-party partner to determine sexual preferences and practices.
The majority of respondents (63%) said they were somewhat confident or very confident in their sexual skills. Unfortunately, that leaves over a third of Americans who feel otherwise.
If you’re in that third or just want to improve your bedroom abilities even more, what can you do?
“(Sexual confidence is) something that develops through education, communication, self-awareness and experience,” says Dr. Jenni Skyler, PhD, LMFT, C-PST, and Adam & Eve’s resident sex therapist.
We recommend sitting down with your partner and looking through the Adam & Eve Guide to Sex. There are articles about different types of sex toys, illustrated positions, and all kinds of sex-related activities. This will help you both communicate about your sexual desires to strengthen your relationship. You can discover new tricks to enhance your existing skills. And explore new things together to further build your experience alongside your confidence.
If you want to get started in the right direction, our sexperts have dug up a few things to help you out. An adult game like Monogamy encourages you to explore each other’s bodies as well desires. It can reduce performance anxiety, so you both can focus on having fun.
Guys can stay harder for longer AND increase their partner’s pleasure with a vibrating penis ring like the Lucas II Vibrating Couples Ring. The performance bonus will leave you feeling like a new man!
Women can feel more assertive and confident by picking out a sexy new piece of lingerie. There’s nothing like stepping out in your babydoll or teddy and watching your lover’s jaw drop and eyes pop!
